Brand new Charge 5, missing SPO2, EDA

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Just bought today, looking forward to the SPO2 and EDA... neither are working, but are installed.

The EDA timer doesn't even start, regardless of where or how hard or long I push.

SPO2 is installed and does ... what? It's not measuring.

Some sensors are just not working.

Any suggestions from Fitbit experts?

I'm not an expert but I do have the Charge 5 and can share what happens for me with those.  The SPO2 can take a few days to start working.  It's measured at night so you have to have been to sleep a few times for it to work.  It can be a bit temperamental and I don't get a reading every single night but do most nights.

With the EDA it's all about tapping the screen and holding the metal sensors at the side of your device, no need to push anything.  On mine, when I scroll to EDA, it says 'Tap to start'.  I tap, then a 3:00 sign shows up with a circular purple start button.  When you touch that it tells you to hold the sides to start.  If you take your fingers away, it pauses until you put them back.

Actually I only used it once on the day I bought it and didn't bother again because it seemed like a bit of a white elephant for me.  Sitting quietly for 3 minutes and breathing should bring your heart rate and stress level down anyway, and you could measure that by just checking your heart rate instead.  The sweat sensors or whatever seem a bit superfluous (maybe just me who thinks that though).

I hope your things start to work soon!

You've answered 1 question:  SPO2 - as I look at the app this morning, it did record my O2 while I was sleeping. TY! I didn't expect that. The 2nd problem, EDA, is still a problem.

I followed exactly what you described and nothing to start EDA. It's the side sensors. I can gently squeeze or attempt to crush the device, it doesn't matter, it just doesn't "start" and continues to tell me to "gently hold the sides", then vibrates and states "hold device side to start".

I don't expect to use EDA; however, I do want it to function if I do.

I seem to be quite lucky with mine as it's functioning normally.  I just have to lightly touch the sides, like completing an electrical circuit, and it starts.  If I remove them, it pauses.

I've just seen another thread where @iotbyanurag  posted a video of theirs where it works even without touching it (which kind of backs up my theory that it's based on calm breathing and measuring your heart rate really and the sensors are more for theatrics).  It's a shame because if they'd cut them, they probably could have had room to keep the altimeter.

It's very odd.  Theirs is too sensitive and keen to start and yours is too reluctant.  Maybe it is worth making a complaint...

Thank you all for your attempts; sadly, it was the device. I returned/replaced the Charge 5. The EDA works as intended on it's replacement. Good community. Nobody once said to RTFM. ✌️
