Charge 5 - Battery life

Is anyone randomly having issues with battery life? I have a Charge 5 and it started out of nowhere. Would hold battery for days and now I’m lucky if it lasts 4 hours.

Hi @uchimaru8 and welcome back to the forums.

Thank you very much for your message, and I'm very sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is draining his battery too fast.
This is definitely not what we want for our users, and I understand your feelings on this matter.
Please check something.
Did you happen to receive a message to update your phone's operating system? This can occasionally cause the bands to drain their battery.

For more information, refer to Check & update your Android version or Update your iPhone or iPad.

Make sure Always-on Mode is disabled:

  • Swipe down from the clock face to access quick settings.
  • Tap the Settings app > Display settings > Always-on Mode.
  • Tap Always-on Mode to turn it on or off.

I am also experiencing a severe battery drain issue with my Fitbit Charge 5, purchased in November 2022. This week the battery suddenly has been draining rapidly, dropping from 100% to 73% in just 2 hours and dying in a day, compared to its previous lifespan of up to a week. The device is running the latest firmware, version 194.91. My iOS and Fitbit phone app are also up-to-date.

I have taken extensive troubleshooting steps, including:

  • Optimizing settings: manual display, dim display, simple clock face, GPS off, minimal notifications.

  • Performing multiple restarts via settings and the charger button (3 presses).

  • Rebooting my iPhone and re-pairing the device.

  • Completing a factory reset and re-pairing with the Fitbit app.

  • Uninstalling SpO2 and ECG apps, as recommended in user forums.

Despite these efforts, the battery drain persists, aligning with widespread reports of similar issues linked to firmware updates (e.g., 194.61 and 194.91) on Fitbit Community forums and other platforms. I understand my device is out of warranty, but I love my Charge 5 and I'm not ready to replace it. I'm desperate to resolve this issue if anyone has some magical cure!
