Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the Charge 5 has the blinking lights on the back, like previous Charge versions? I know this is the Heart Rate sensor and can be turned off but the blinking lights on previous versions have meant that I can’t wear the device at night and I don’t feel there’s any point buying the new Charge if I have to turn the HR sensor off.
Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @dwtcd.
Thank you for sharing your inquiry about the Charge 5.
This device includes the heart rate feature as well and it has the green LED lights on the back, like previous Charge versions. As you mentioned, it is possible to turn off the heart rate feature, but it would not be possible to keep this feature On and have the LED lights turned off at the same time.
The device uses green LEDS because they maximize the signal detected from the capillaries near the surface of the skin. The optical heart-rate sensor also uses infrared light to determine when the device is on your wrist to improve the accuracy of your heart-rate data. You can find this and more information in this article as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to share all your feedback about this. The team continues to work to improve the Fitbit experience and your feedback is big part of that process.
