Hi

New to Fitbit, purchased the Charge 5 , the app draining battery on my phone , can not find anywhere in app to alter settings sync wise,

Contacted customer support they won't help as say it's my phone maker issue as phone battery. When it's not , as only started when fit app installed and currently used 20% of battery so far on Android 12

All I want to know is how do I alter settings to sync in app to stop phone battery drain .

As customer service would not assist at all

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Yorkshireguy

Thanks for sharing that you've been having this inconvenience with your Charge 5 and that you already tried a few steps to try to resolve it.

Before considering other options, please check if the following settings are turned On or Off in your phone:

Background restrictions or limitations

  1. Go to Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app.
  2. Tap Background restrictions or Background limits and check if the setting Off.

Battery limitations

  1. Go to Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization.
  2. Change the view to All apps.
  3. Search for the Fitbit app and choose Not optimized.

These settings should usually remain off to improve syncing and to receive notifications on your device. However, you can try to turn them on to check if you notice any difference on battery life of your phone. In addition, you can also try to uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.

What helped?  Restricting the battery usage or reinstalling the app?
