If I had known that the Charge 5 did not count floors, I would have purchased a Charge 4 and saved some money. Fitbit, please take care of your charter customers and update the Charge 5 capabilities!

Sorry to hear about your disappointment.  Unfortunately the Charge 5 doesn’t have the hardware, an altimeter, needed to detect floors.  It won’t be able to be updated to detect them because it’s missing that piece of tech.

 

Are you able to take it back and get the Charge 4?

I am very disappointed that the Fitbit charge 5 does not include a stair tracker. Why was that eliminated? I used that feature daily.

Hi @Unicorn4373 Fitbit makes their decisions, but they don't always tell us the reasons for having made them. The Sense and Charge 4 have an altimeter.

Unluckily for me, I recycled my box before finding out that there was no altimeter. So, my guess is that I can't return it. Years ago I learned that I shouldn't ASSUME. This experience reminds me to not trust and instead check everything that I believe should be a given. For me it's sad because Fitbit's reputation have been stellar for me.
