Charge 5 Recorded Data Confusion and Inaccuracy

Hi,

When I go for an outdoor bike the Charge 5 recognizes it automatically as it should. However, two things happen that are wonky.

First, even though the outdoor ride shows up as such in my Exercise Days this Week, my step count for the day goes way up. i.e. the bike ride is showing up as steps in the step category at the top of the app page

Second, my heart rate for the ride is recording way under actual. I use a heart rate strap and my cycle computer is showing average heart rate of 120 bpm. The Charge 5 is recording 80 BPM. This is happening consistently every ride. Am wearing band correctly and Charge 5 heart rate is showing correctly at most other times.

Are there any resolutions for these issues?

Thanks

You see extra steps because of the bumps and uneven surfaces when you're riding. It's a kind of side-effect but seems to be accepted by the Fitbit users. It happens for every Fitbit device and don't get yourself into an argument about whether there should be steps registered during bike ride 😉 It's pointless and the Fitbit community seems to be very divided on that subject (some users want some kind of step-like reward for cycling). It is what it is.

About the HR, I'm not quite sure as I don't own Charge 5 but I experienced a similar issue during cycling when I owned Ionic and now, with Sense. For me, there was no solution but like I said - I don't know about Charge 5.
