just happened to me today. it started after i charged it during an update. i tried just restarting and nothing. gonna try the advice to let the battry die and charge it and try the restart again. ill try to remember to let you know how that works out for me

My charge 5 has the red circle and the x, tried the resetting thing multiple times, but it reverts to the red circled x. Will not sync at all iPad or iPhone will not pair. It was at 0 bat, after 3 days of charging it is at 33%. My Fitbit app doesn’t have the sync now option, but I can pull down the screen, will not sync. Can’t change the clock face since it is unresponsive

Me Too! So Sad. Second Charge 5 after simply died. Hope there is a way out of this mess. Long time FitBit user with many badges to show for it. Don't make me switch trackers! HELP!! June 26, 2023

Hello. So I went thru the process of connecting my Charge5 to my electrical outlet and then doing a reset. this was done by pressing the small button on the charger three times within the span of eight seconds. Once this was successful, I continued the charging process until 100%. I then did a reset thru the Charge5 itself by scrolling up from the main to the "settings" screen. After this step it DID connect but the time was way off. I then called over to FB support and they had me go thru the "Set-Up a new device" process found on the site. I did this and ensured the setting for Automatic Time update was turned on. that seems to be it so far. as of five minutes ago this is working. I will be quite active today and report back how it's going. Fingers crossed!
Update. It has been a few days since I had gone through the reset and reconnect process and all seems to be back to "normal". I am able to track steps, the time is correct on my Charge 5, and I am experiencing no further Red X issues. I hope this helps all. Many thanks to the FB community for the support as well the FB Customer Support team for their assistance. AS I say to my friends...Hiking is my thing, anything else is just a walk! Cheers y'all.

Thanks for letting us know that your Charge 5 is back to "normal".
We learned there was an issue with Google server(s) early last week that impacted sync and logins. The issue was resolved in about a day or so. Your issue may have been related to the Google server problem. Hopefully, others will also see that their Fitbits are back to normal.

Hello and Good Morning. Sadly I must report that my FB Charge 5 is back to it's old tricks. Red X / White Circle. 😕
Upon charging I had a blank screen with NO activity so I reconnected to the charger and pressed button on charger three times for one second each time all within the timeframe of eight seconds per FB Support direction. alas, no luck and I am dead in the water. I will continue to futz with this as I truly enjoy using my FB to track steps and other activities. FYI, If this is genuinely a problem with Google servers, is there an FB company update that can be provided as to when their would be a resolution? I will report out if any of my actions work.

Hello!
my Fitbit has been working fine since i got it about a year ago but just an hour ago it was unresponsive which I thought was weird because I charged it fully yesterday. I tried to charge it but nothing happend but suddenly the Fitbit icon showed but the screen was frozen. I read something here about removing it from your Bluetooth and app which I did but nothing really happened. I tried to reboot it by pressing the button and the charger and all that. Suddenly the Fitbit logo started flashing and then a red circle with a white cross starter flashing. For the last minutes the screen has been switching between showing a black screen, a flashing fitbit logo and then the red circle again.
can someone help me?

hello. so i went thru numerous options in my attempt to recover my Charge 5. outside of one time when I was able to get a bit of life back...it is effectively DEAD with nothing that can be done. I tried customer service and went thru their steps. all failed. (BTW, CS did a good job with me but just had no answer) Finally they offered me a discount code which did not work so I called them back an d was told that discount codes do not work on sale items as Charge 5 was marked down to $119. I was miffed sa the 35% discount from original price is below the $119 sale price. they had NO response. I asked that they look into offering me the "insurance" pkg. at no charge. theyh couldnt do that. SO...I bought a new one from Amazon for $119 and got the insurance for a little cheaper. that said...If you purchase another Charge 5, but the insurance! I love the Charge 5 and have been an active member since 2014 with many miles, floors, steps and badges.
