Charge 5 - Steps Recorded, Then Reduced after syncing

I went for about a 35 minute fairly brisk walk. Steps were recorded while I walked but it didn’t recognize this as exercise. I went into the app and added a log for the time I was walking. I was at 8300+ steps for the day and then both my C5 and the app reverted to 4974 steps. Not pleased with losing the credit for those steps.

@BethM93 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message and information.

Have you logged any activity manually or used the MobileRun feature on the Fitbit app to record a walk, hike or run?

If so this could explain the missing steps.

If you logged an activity manually you can give the amount of steps or distance to be saved. If you input the distance, your amount of steps are calculated dividing the distance / stride length.

This amount will overwrite the ones tracked with the Charge 5 on the timeframe.

The same is applicable if you use MobileRun in the Fitbit app. Using this feature, your steps and information will be tracked by the sensors on your phone. And could overwrite the ones on the same timeframe that were recognized by your Charge 5.
