Charge 5 adding fake steps - woke up with 500 new steps, wtf ???

I want my money back - this is my first thought when I remember about my Fitbit Charge 5 - biggest mistake ever to have chosen this tracker.

My boyfriend and I have bought the Charge 5 trackers 2 weeks ago. I've already heard about the previous devices dealing with difficulties counting steps correctly, so I've decided to wait for the launch of Charge5, hoping that the problem would be surely solved and the newest will be the best - not the case unfortunately. We have acquired these mainly to track our steps during the day and  the rest of the features would have been an additional bonus to our main interest -  the STEPS. Since the very first days we have noticed the VERY inaccurate counting. On a 5 hour drive both of us had + 5k steps on the screens. Brushing the teeth, drying the hair, eating, working on the laptop while lying in bed - everything is adding lots and lots of steps, even sleeping does!!! Yesterday I went to bed with 250 steps and woke up to the screen showing me I had performed 830 - what? How is that even possible? Shall I also mention how I achieve the 10k steps goal, while sitting on my bottom, during daily drives? And after a week of searching all over the internet, and restarting my device daily, there are only 2 official solutions from the fitbit team:

1. Log in the "driving" activity in the exercise tab - Did that, nothing changes and nothing changed. The total number of steps or calories "burnt" were not reduced, first of all. Second, I have lots of short drives during the day, this is my lifestyle, am I supposed to log in the "driving" activity every other 15 minutes, how stupid is that? How much time I have to waste on that!? Why did I even get an automatic tracker if I have to register the drives manually - moreover even if I do that I see no changes in the statistics at the end of the day !!! At least if there were an application on fitbit with some drive mode, which you could activate when you start driving... however an automatic tracker has to be automatic, doesn't it?

2. Take your watch off when playing guitar/ drying hair/ doing makeup/brushing teeth -  Oh wow, great! Will take it off and put it on every other 15 minutes, why did I even buy it then?

I cannot tell you how angry and dissatisfied I am with this Charge 5. I made this a gift to my boyfriend and I am so ashamed I chose a ***** present that can't do the simplest thing I've got it for....

I will tell you more: I went to one of the official fitbit dealers in Bucharest, Romania (the one where I bought them from) - called "MediaGalaxy" and wanted to return the devices. The manager there told me that the only thing they can help me with is sending the watches to an official repair service, but he also told me <"I am sure that nobody there will put your devices on their hands and do activities or drive to check the step counter {laughing} during doing this or that, so It doesn't make sense to send them there.">

Please tell me a real solution to this problem, otherwise, give me the address where to return your devices and I want my money back.

Would you buy  yourself a tracker like this for 170 euros - that cannot deal with one simplest task, counting the steps?

P.S. After typing this text I've gained + 100 steps.

That definitely sounds like it needs recalibrating.

Have you reset it and downloaded all the latest updates?

I hope Fitbit can help with assessment, or refund for you.

I've noticed mine occasionally counts steps when I'm sleeping, but only 1-200... And I don't move enough to count 200 steps at night so it's a fault too, but not severe enough for a complaint.

Good luck.

I have reset and downloade everything, the soft is the newest...

Honestly 200 steps to add at night is also al lot, when there are actually no steps at all!

That sounds terrible.  Just one thing though, you can set your Fitbit to tell it whether you wear it on your dominant or non-dominant hand.   It counts differently then.  I wear it on my non-dominant hand so brushing my hair, teeth and eating don't affect anything.  I don't know if it's similar if it's on your dominant hand if you set it to that. That only accounts for a tiny bit of the problem I know...  Unfortunately I don't drive so don't know any tricks for that situation.

I hope someone can give you some useful advice and help.
