what i have tried already
1 - restart many times pressing button 3 times on charger. turning all features like gps heartrate turning off.
2 - logging in, out, clearing data on app, device all permutations
3- using a completely different phone with new account,
the problem is i cant see any update available whereas my device firmware is not up to date. it 188.58. one time i just see an update is available when i started it said it will take 40 minutes but its completed or over is just 5 seconds. and i have seen the message that your firmware is up to date. but its still 188.58.

Hello @aakash0099
I saw that you attempted to restart your Charge 5 multiple times to try to fix your excessive battery drain.
When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery drain, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I noticed the battery% had a big drop, I restarted my device then put it on the charger, often doing this multiple times in a day. This process eventually got my Charge 5 "unstuck" and the battery life went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work, it might be worth a try.
As for the firmware update to 194, I think the rollout for that firmware was halted. My Charge 5 is also still on version 188.58.

Hello @RiekoC ,
Thanks for your reply. I have seen some posts where they have done the same and it worked for them. I have also started doing the same, until now I have done this 3-4 times, but no improvement. should i wait for the battery to drop to 0 or start charging before?

Hi there, @aakash0099. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the battery of your Charge 5 is still draining quickly. I understand your concern, we're here to help you!
I'd recommend letting your Charge 5's battery drain to fully charge it again. If the issue persists, as our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Charge 5. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.
With the above being said, please sync your Charge 5 and then, proceed with the steps below in the order listed:
You can follow the steps to set up the device after that How do I set up my Fit-bit device?
@RiekoC Thank you for sharing the steps that worked for you.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

Hello @aakash0099
I didn't let my Charge 5 battery drop to zero. I kept restarting it, followed by putting it on the charger as soon as I saw a bigger drop in battery.
That said, I have seen some users report that letting the battery completely drain, then charging it seemed to resolve their battery drain.
Personally, I would keep trying to restart & charge for at least a couple of days first.
