Charge 5 went from lasting about a week between charging the battery to less than 12 hours after a firmware update. Device is now mostly useless. Will never buy another fitbit product if they do not address this issue which is clearly related to the firmware update.

Stop changing my title of my post. This is clearly a firmware update issue. Your default "help" posts are insulting. I think I'm done here. I'll never use a fitbit product again.

Hi there, @SunsetRunner. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Charge 5. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.
If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general, as this has been generally useful for other users. In addition, please complete a three pulse restart following the steps listed here below:
The battery can last up to 7 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but the battery shouldn't be draining only after a few hours.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

Mine totally died…no way to resuscitate it. No more fitbits for me. Ugh…just over a year old, too. Dang!

Same issue with my Charge 5. Device went from normal performance for the battery lasting 4-5 days to a full charge to dead within 2 hours with no activity and heart rate turned off. My device was active for a year and almost 2 months. Fitbit support basically said we're sorry, here's a discount for a new one....waste of time and money. It's clearly a known issue that Fitbit doesn't want to deal with.

I am in the same boat. My device is one year and 2 months old as well. I guess I will bite the bullet and get an Apple watch.

Following suggestions for improving battery life isn't the issue here. The firmware update is the culprit. Apparently not all devices, but some Charge 5's begin draining their battery very fast (like within 8 hours after full charge) after the update. My wife's Charge 5 is still fine, but my Charge 5 is apparently one of the ones that's ruined by the firmware update. Google needs to figure out what change they made that does this & issue a new update, and soon!

The copy and paste PR posts from the moderators are hilarious. They may as well be chat bots because they clearly don't understand the context of the situation or acknowledge that the Charge 5 forum is filling up with malfunctioning devices.
Edit: By the way, those of us on the old firmware version are straight up getting locked out of our devices at random. This situation is a mess.

Same thing here. I reported it to a Fitbit representative and all they did was give me a 35% off discount for a new device since my one year insurance ran out a few months ago. There was nothing wrong with my device and I had all of the settings they suggested to avoid battery drainage already set. I don’t even wear it in any type of water. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Glad I have a useless device. Waste of resources to make these and toss them.
