Charge 5 battery is draining too quickly

The percentage of battery is always misleading. Always changed, quickly become full or empty. It even could not simply be a reliable watch now. Very frustrated. Really bad product in the world.

hi eddy, it looks alot like your battery is faulty.. even worse than my 2016 fitbit blaze.. so theres a defect in your Fitbit. contact official Fitbit support, and they will give you a discount on a charge 6, or if your device is in warranty you can go to fitbit for repair. You can also buy a replacement battery and open the device. keep in mind opening it voids the warranty. its also a difficult job.

Hi there, @EddyHK. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that the battery of your Charge 5 is draining quickly. I understand how you must be feeling. We're here to help you!

As a first approach, I'd recommend to follow the recommendations listed in this article to improve or extend battery life.  There are a few features that would make the battery drain faster than usual, even in one day. Some of these features are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 days when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Tracking SpO2 (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

If this doesn't apply to you, another step that has been helpful for other users having battery draining problems is the three pulse restart procedure using the charging cable. Nevertheless, since you mentioned you already tried that, please confirm that you performed the restart as described below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4. If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

@finleyhenry7 Thank you for your input and advice!

So I've switched everything off on my charge 5, and I mean everything possible.
It was working very nicely until about 3 weeks ago, when it started draining with 3-4 hours.
It's 2 years old and I love it, however having seen all the similar complaints  on here I'm nervous about a new purchase.
Will I get a discount code? if so how much?

Hello @EddyHK @BMcN

When my Charge 5 started having rapid battery drain, I restarted and recharged my device multiple times over several days. As soon as I noticed the battery% had a big drop, I restarted my device then put it on the charger, often doing this multiple times in a day. This process eventually got my Charge 5 "unstuck" and the battery life went back to lasting 6-7 days. Although there's no guarantee that this will work, it might be worth a try.
