Hi - My charge 5 vibrated and went blank yesterday. Ended up with a red circle with x in it. I tried all the steps in the community. One of them was to remove watch from phone and reset up.
I was on the phone with support, and didn't get anywhere. They opened a case. I saw a recent post for firmware update but my watch is no longer connected to my phone (and wont connect).
I'm at a WTF FITBIT moment. Anyone else having this issue. This also happened to my mom's Charge 5 yesterday. Was there an update to FitBit?
Moderator edit: clarified subject.

Ummm…I was offered a 35% discount towards the purchase of my next watch. My Charge 5 is 14 months old!!! This is absolute BS. I followed all of the Fitbit self help instructions, my device is not working due to your software updates.
Do Fitbit watches only last just over a year?

There's a way to reset the Charge 5 that has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum that involves connecting the cable and pressing the reset button on the cable 3 times or holding it. That apparently encourages it to install any current firmware update it has ready to install and may get you past that blank screen problem. I have yet to try that myself. I "lucked" out and got disconnected before mine got the bad firmware. Good luck!

Same happened to me. hooked the charge5 up to charge, it started vibrating and went dark while still vibrating after a couple minutes the vibration stopped and also the C5 never came back on. I also removed the watch from my phone and it will not let me add it. (go figure since its dead). what gives Fitbit or is it Google?

Hi Daisy, my Charge 5 just started this yesterday and nothing worked. Customer service says they will get back to me by email,,,,,, really!
this obviously is common, you would think they have definite answers by now.

Hi - I believe they die a month or two after your warranty expires. I was offered a discount to purchase another and still waiting for it to be delivered.

like you, they offered the 35% discount. Makes me wonder why they do that instead of a "fix" solution. Its obviously widespread, so leads me to believe they would rather have us spend more money to buy a replacement instead of letting us know how to fix it. Just thinking out loud.
