Charge 5 battery issues

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

the battery is draining very quickly for the past couple of weeks and it keeps randomly switching itself off even when the battery is at 60%.

I'll put it on charge ,have disconnected it from bluetooth and connected it again, have used the button on the side of the charger cable to reset, but it still keeps happening.  It's happened again today and also 2 days ago.

These issues must be related to an update as I have seen others have had similar but not both at the same time

Hi there, @OriginalDavo. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still crashing itself suddenly and that the battery is not lasting as it should. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As our last resort, I'd recommend performing a factory reset on your Charge 5. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please sync your Charge 5 and then, proceed with the steps below in the order listed:

  1. Swipe down from the clock screen to find the Settings app.
  2. On your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > Device Info > Clear User Data

You can follow the steps to set up the device after that How do I set up my Fit-bit device?

Regarding the battery draining, please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%.  Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning). Thank you for getting back to me.  I do not have a Luxe model so can I suggest that you check when you copy and paste.  It's also interesting to see that this problem is not unique to Charge 5.

I do not propose to do the factory reset at present.

I cannot believe that this problem of random switch off is one that Fitbit are not producing an update to resolve.

I have also had the same problem in the last 2 weeks. I don't believe this is acceptable for a watch I purchased in the last couple of years. I think Fitbit need to sort this out as it doesn't reflect well on their brand. Might be the last Fitbit I own if no fix is offered. Here's hoping we get a resolution!
