Hi there, @Mosiyeq. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 battery is draining so quickly. I'll be glad to help you with this.

If you haven't done so already, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general, as this has been generally useful for other users. In addition, please confirm that you've restarted your Charge 5 as described below:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end if the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

The battery can last up to 7 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but the battery shouldn't be draining only after a few hours.

Hope that helps.

I'm having the same problem it has been going on for about a month. I charge the watch before bed then put it on. When I wake up it's at 72% and that is with the screen set on manual and dim.

This has been happening to me also over this last week. My Fitbit used to last a week now it's lasting a few hours. I've turned GPS off, put it in sleep mode at night, screen is on dim, I've uninstalled SPO and i have put phone in charger and done the 3 button press, and all still to no avail, plus a reset, plus I've looked for new updates etc. What an earth is going on. I charged last night , it was 77% at 10pm battery now empty and claims on app last sync 7 hours ago. I'm thinking there has been some kind of update that isn't compatible with this because up until now I've had the same settings for last 2 years with no issues

I am also having the same problem, battery can’t hold a charge. Right now it’s lasting about 6 hours before it’s dead. I noticed my firmware got updated. Now at version 20001.188.58. Mine was also working fine over the last year and now it won’t last 6 hours. I restarted device by using the charging cable but that didn’t help. What ever updates you pushed is making things worse.

I too am experiencing exactly the same issue where the Fitbit does not hold it's charge. Rebooting has no effect. Can you please make any fix generally available please?

As an example at 16:18 today Fitbit was 100% charged. At 19.06 this evening it's now at 54%. Half of this time I've not been wearing it. I have followed all advice and replied to emails from Fitbit but no further response from them. I can't see what else I can possibly turn off and why I should be turning anything off in first place as everything was fine until this week . To say I'm annoyed is being polite considering the cost of electricity and the constant need to charge this device this week in 5 hour intervals. Clearly there.is an issue Fitbit end as I'm not the only one reporting this !

I recommend restarting your Fitbit and checking for firmware updates to address battery issues. Adjust settings like screen brightness and manage notifications.

I followed all the recommendations, unsure why I need to do all of that all of a sudden when everything was working fine before with notifications, etc. My screen is dim, all notifications are now off, and I don't wear it all the time. As soon as it's 100% charge after about half an hour's wear it's down to 72%. Fitbit support are liaising with me but to be honest , after almost  2 years of having this device which was a present to me for my birthday, and them expecting me to produce a receipt from way back when Im sending that this is the life expectancy of the product, the update isn't compatible, and that it's only suitable for the bin. I've cancelled my premium subscription of £7.99 a month which I've been paying additionally to have as I can't monitor any of my efforts for plans on this knackered device !

I'm suddenly experiencing the same thing. Unit is 15 months old so 3 months out of warranty. Did all the troubleshooting through chat and they acknowledged that it isn't functioning properly.

As it is out of warranty they offered 50% off a new Fitbit BUT with the terms and conditions below. I've made an extended warranty claim from my credit card. Hopefully they accept the chat transcript to acknowledge it is defective and isn't repairable.

If your Charge 5 is now unusable and want to buy a Charge 6, QVC has them for $100 (same price as Fitbit's website) but use PERKQCV1 to get another $20 off. Free shipping.

Offer Terms and Conditions (note that you can't use it for replacing the Charge 5 (no longer offered) with a Charge 6. Is that stupid or what?):

  • This offer applies to the price of the device only, not tax and shipping costs.
  • If you use this discount on a new device, your current device might stop working after you set up your new device and is no longer eligible for troubleshooting or replacement. We recommend recycling your defective device at any e-waste recycling facility.
  • To take advantage of the discount, you must only have one device in your order. If you wish to purchase more than one (1) device, you must purchase any additional devices in a separate order.
  • This offer can only be applied towards one Fitbit device currently in stock. This offer is not applicable to Fitbit Ace 3, Charge 6 and Google Pixel watches.
  • If you have a device and an accessory in your cart, the discount will be applied to the device only.
  • This offer cannot be combined with any other device discount offers and it cannot be transferred or resolved.
  • This offer cannot be returned, redeemed for cash, or applied as payment on any account except where required by law.
  • The discount offer expires 30 days after receipt.
  • This offer cannot be applied toward any Fitbit products that are available for pre-order only.

Did you get an email from fitbit customer service or did you contact them directly? Thx

When we started this thread the person who responded to myself and another person on this post said that we could get contacted by the customer support team. So they contacted us via email.  I don't think I'll get anywhere as they are expecting me to produce a receipt from a couple of years ago. Which other half no longer has. Maybe worth you contacting them directly. The more who do the more they may realise that they have a wider issue on their hands

I have been getting the same issue for the last few weeks. Charge 5 notifies me that the battery level is low and that I should charge the unit.  Device shows about 9% battery level.  I try to restart the device ( using setting on the device), Charge 5 shuts down.  I connect to a charger - device  comes back to life and shows 31% charge. I do a hard restart using the charging cable - now suddenly it shows 83% charge.

Charge 5 is just less than 14 month old,  not sure if the battery is flaky or the firmware has a problem - and yes i do have a receipt.

That's exactly what mine was doing when I was charging, telling me it was critical battery level, would charge do a hard restart and would tell me I had about 36% battery life left. At least you have a receipt still, I don't as mine was gifted and is just under 2 years old, so you may get further than me for help and support. I think it's a software glitch coz the day it all started going wrong I received a notification on my phone to remind me to connect by Bluetooth to my fitbit. I had never switched it off so obviously something was going on in background and since then it's not held a charge. I can't afford to pay all electricity I'm using to have to charge it repeatedly. So it's now permanently off

I did not need to produce a receipt, but I did the chat while logged into the Fitbit site so they were able to see my Fitbit account and tell me that it was out of support.

So many posts about this. I've been doing some "testing" and found that the only think that saves my batter is if I turn off by Bluetooth. They took away the option to stop All Day Sync and this is the only way to stop. Syncing is DESTROYING my battery. I charged my Fitbit yesterday and turned off Bluetooth. I woke up to 80% battery. After syncing it dropped to 64%. So annoying that now I can't use the notification features that I've come to enjoy (text messages/phone calls). I'm using this while researching other devices and hoping for Black Friday Sales. Such a shame, I have had 4 Fitbit devices over Many years, time to say goodbye.

I'm going to try that I didn't realise it was all day syncing now. But it's frustrating to have to switch off every function so it's a pointless gadget 😞

My 3 month old Charge 5 just went dead after 1 day from 100%. lost all my sleep data from the night before for some reason. I miss having a button on the side where I could force a restart on my old charge 3.  Anyway I think something is very wrong with this device. I'm pretty sure its needing to be replaced.
