Charge 5 black screen but connected

Got a charge 5 today. Tried to do initial update 5 times or so over about 5 hours. Contributes to fail. Final attempt the Charge was running normally but my phone was still displaying the update status bar. Then it started a reboot loop. I plugged it into the charger to manually reboot in attempt to fix it and now my screen is black but the unit was still syncing. Tried to start the process over from scratch by deleting the device from the Fitbit app and now I'm stuck at the enter code to pair step and the screen will not display anything. Fitbit logo appears on reboot then straight to black again.

Happened to me as well although it started with a constant vibration on my wrist and I saw that battery was down to 3%.  So I charged it for a day and all I have is a black screen. This is my 2nd charge 5 and they can’t seems to get past the 6 month mark

Same thing's Happened to me today – black screen. Fitbit app says it’s 79% charged but no activity logged since noon when I first notice the screen has gone black. Plugging in charger is made no difference – the charge five doesn’t seem to be recognising it/connecting.

I contacted Amazon as my Charge 5 is just 7mths old / well within warranty period. They put me thru to FitBit tech support. 

 

In addition to repeating the troubleshooting steps I’d already taken prior to calling them, they also got me to remove and reinstall the FitBit app - and ‘Forget the device’ in Bluetooth.


Of course, neither worked given the issue is the actual device… 😒
