My Fitbit Charge 5 was working perfectly well till today morning. Then a red x appeared and after sometime it completely died. Today morning the device was at 85% charge..have tried the pressing the charger button thrice, the logo appears for a second and then the black screen comes back.
Have tried refreshing the app, switching off the Bluetooth on my android and restarting, cleaning my fitbit and charger..
Nothing seems to work. Please help.

Same here! SO ANNOYING!!!!
Only had the fitbit Charge 5 for five months! Yesterday the screen went black.
What a waste. Not able to sync. App not able to recognize Charge 5. Charge 5 black screen and useless.

Lots of similar posts on this site (under different names). Mine has same problem. I let it totally discharge the battery overnight (when it is in this mode, it sucks battery dry quickly). Left it charging today for 2 hours (to "Battery Full"), and operation returned to the screen and tracker is tracking. BUT, functionality is missing (screen doesn't scroll, etc). Have spent 4 different sessions "chatting" with FitBit help people. I realize they only seem to have a limited number of phrases (or "answers") that corporate Google/FitBit allows them to say. Things like "I'm sad to hear about your experience", and "FitBit is working on a firmware update for this problem".
