My Charge 5 is only 6 months old but went totally black today even thought it is 71% charged. I cannot bring up anything.

Hi there, @Lorinielsen. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post.
As @Talahthas has recommended, please restart your Charge 5. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.
Hope this helps.

@Lorinielsen Welcome to the Fitbit community.
Sad to hear that your Charge 5 isn't working as expected. Please try to restart it following these instructions:
1.) Connect your Charge 5 to the charging cable which has to be connected to a power source.
2.) Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
3.) Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
If this doesn't work for you, I'd suggest contacting Fitbit support for further assistance:

"blank screen" means its blank so how are we to reset our watches when the screen is blank?

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @bshan01!
Please just follow the instructions I've provided above.
In case you're searching the restart button, it is located on the USB plug of your device's charging adapter:
I'll keep my fingers crossed.
