My charge 5 has been randomly stopping and today it has the black screen. Tried all the tricks and nothing is getting it back. Tried all the reset tricks and nothing is helping. Looks like the firmaware update is impacting what can I do?
Moderator Edit: Clarified subject
There is a single line on the screen while it is updating the clock face so it's not a hundred percent black. But there is definitely something wrong with the screen. And since there are about a 100 people Complaining about the exact same problem.I suggest the problem is on your end not ours.
Hi Maria,
same problem here.
tried to restart and change clock face but still blank screen.
any further suggestions?
Thanks!
Best AnswerFitbit wants to give me a discount on a new device but based on all these messages, and similar ones in the pinned chat about the firmware upgrade, I think they broke my device (and many of yours too) with the upgrade. I had no plans to buy another device, discounted or not. I'm not happy.
I might buy a Charge 6 if offered an upgrade but given the suddenness of the problem with the blank clock face and battery issue I'm not buying a new one without a discount. What did you do to get the offer of a discount?
Best AnswerI have had to buy three fitbits in five years because they quit working. Now that I've read all of this, I'm pretty convinced it's a scam. I think they purposely send out an update every year or two in order to get people to buy the new model. I think it's time to go to a new brand.

Best AnswerMy fitbit charge 5 went black screen 2 weeks ago. Nothing helped. Changing clock face, restarting on charger, I even left it to die and then charged it hoping it would start it, but nothing.
Since this is my 3rd fitbit in 5/6 years that decided to suddenly stop working I went and bought another brand.
Yes, I think they do it on purpose with updates, and that is unacceptable to me.
