Charge 5 blank screen

My iPhone says the Fitbit Charge 5 is fully charged (it should be, it was on the charger for 5 hours), but the screen is completely black.  I tried the 3 button pushes on the USB end of the charging cord - nothing.  The Fitbit is apparently recording data - the step count goes up on the iPhone as I walk around, but the Fitbit screen stays blank.  The Fitbit is 16 months old.   Is there any hope of getting it to work again?

I did not have success at restarting. Fitbit was replaced but it was less than a year old. Now the band attachment has broken off and it's over a year. They said they won't replace it. Good luck!
