For those who come after me.
I first noticed my charge was not holding battery the same length as usual. Then I noticed the screen was black and unresponsive. Upon putting it on charge it showed the fitbit logo and opened, however it suddenly had >90% charge! When it had said 40 something before hand. Then I refreshed the app and watched as it dropped slowly down to the original.
I HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING.
The crashes got worse. It would crash every time my heart rate elevated past 110, or if I tried to manually sync if it wasn't on charge.
I tried all suggestions I'd seen before. Every configuration of resetting, restarting, uninstalling, disconnecting.
You see, it's 4 months past warranty.
Today I came home halfway through my walk to put it on charge to restart it. As soon as I walked uphill it crashed again. I have missed all of the metrics from every exercise I've done this past week, and even sleep data.
I had a horrible feeling when I saw Google buy this brand. The app quality dropped, the sync dropped. Everything that made me happy to use Fitbit has died since.
Today I'm buying an Apple Watch. Good riddance.
