Charge 5 crashes when making payments

My charge 5 crashes when making payments and the only way to bring it back to life is to connect it to the charger. It appears that the problem occurs only when the battery is below 50%.

I saw an earlier thread about this problem, but there was no solution and the thread was closed to new responses. Are others experiencing the same problem? Is there a fix (probably a firmware upgrade)?

Google/Fitbit: this is costing you money. Every time I can't pay with watch and have to use credit card, you lose your commission!

Update: One additional data point: it crashed today when the battery was at ~ 60%.

Am I the only person having this problem right now?

Hi there, @grtoro. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is crashing using Fitbit Pay. I will do my best to help you with this!

If you haven't done so yet, I recommend restarting your Charge 5 by following these steps

I'm having the same problem too.  It used to only crash when using Fitbit Pay, but now it crashes with anything that causes a slight surge in battery usage.

I have the same issue, worked trouble free all conditions, all terminals and at all charge levels for a year or so. About 6 months back this issue started at some terminals and about one in ten times. I did all the usual, offloaded and reloaded cards, reset the Fitbit, kept charge above 80%, no change. I have seen multitudes of complaints on the same issue on the forum but there is no response from Fitbit or Google and no-one has been able to help. I am now giving up and moving to Samsung or Garmin both are stable and reliable
