I took a swim with my charge 5, and now it's dead. Won't turn on, won't track anything, screen is blank. I've tried the 3 times button push method to restart it, doesn't work.
I've been trying to get in touch with support as well, but unable to contact them.
What should I do next, to replace my device?

This just happened to me for the 2nd time. Is it still under warranty? If you go to the fitbit site and log in there is a spot that says returns and warranty. In that form there is a spot that says How to Obtain warranty service and you click the word HERE. In that link there is another spot that says US users click here. I used the chat and was able to get help. I am just super frustrated because we specifically bought this one so I could wear it swimming and yet this is the 2nd time it has died after being in the pool. I have asked if there is an issue and have been told none has been reported but it looks like lots of people are having a hard time using it in the pool. I asked if there was a better model for swimming and again was told there have been no issue reported. But this is my 2nd one to go bad in 9 months.

Happened to me while visiting Denver, short swim in hotel pool and it died. I took the band off and let it dry until I returned home. I put on charger for awhile. It did vibrate and displayed the logo for a few seconds, but nothing after that. I then tried to sync with the app and that started working and soon a message appeared which said that a software update was available and did I want to install. I said yes and 10-15 miutes later it was finished and charge 5 has worked ever since. I personally think that water got in the band-to-watch connection cavities and shorted something in there which zapped the software. That's why I removed the band and let it dry for a few days while I was on the road. Anyway, forget the user's guide which says good to 50 meters depth and recommends to leave on while showering. Mine will never go near water again. Good Luck...

I have had my charge 5 for about 2 years and wore it swimming for the first time today. Within 30 minutes it died. I put it on the charger and the same thing happened ... The logo came on for a second and it vibrated, then nothing. I took off the band and am letting it dry out. I tried synching, and it says it is synched and battery is low. Will wait and see if anything happens when it dries out. Very disappointed ☹️

There are more threads than I can keep track of on which people complain that the Charge 5 died the first time it got wet, so it certainly disingenuous for support to say that there are no reported issues. As I have said on other threads, both mine and my daughter's are in the pool for hours every week and are working fine. Perhaps the Charge 5 is produced by more than one manufacturer, and some units are not meeting specs.
But it should certainly be replaced with no discussion if it is under warranty. It is sold as a swim tracker after all.
