Charge 5 does not sync at all

Charge 5 does not sync at all well. It times out about 3 days out of 5. Also, when I swim laps it cuts out after about 15 or 20 minutes. It may randomly decide I am running instead. Can I control it or is it a design fault?

Hi, welcome back to the Community forums, @Corbsfit

I appreciate all the information that you've shared about the issues you're experiencing with your Charge 5.

If you haven't done so already, please try the following steps that have been useful for other users:

  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn Bluetooth off and on.
  • Open the Fitbit app and sync again

In addition, I recommend that you try restarting the device using the three pulse restart method with the charging cable and let me know if you already tried all the steps listed here to resolve syncing problems.

Regarding the problem with the device not counting your laps after a while, the restart could also be helpful with this inconvenience. However, keep in mind that inconsistencies in your swim data may also be caused by any of the following:

  • You completed only a few laps
  • You stopped to rest multiple times or in the middle of the pool
  • You stopped to rest for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
  • You changed your stroke type midway through a length
  • You swam with a kickboard or without using your arms
  • You swam less than the minimum duration needed for your swim to be automatically recognized.

Hope this helps, I'll be around.
