Charge 5 features (free vs premium)

The blurb on the Charge 5 list some features, but doesn't indicate if all or some of them are only available with the premium subscription.     I have a Charge 4, but interested in the 5, but would like to see what is new from the Charge 4 without a subscription.

I would check the fitbit store @pkjohn1

However it does come with a Free 6 months of premium.

Hi,

I have some concerns too, and I'd like to know if my tracker will become useless to me after those 6 months.

A lot of things remain unclear, even after reading the Store page, the Premium explanation and the Google blog .

For instance, will the ECG be a Premium feature ?

The Health Metrics dashboard is a Premium feature. It includes the tracking of : breathing rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, SpO2 and even skin temperature variation.

Will I completely loose all these features after six months ?

Rich,

Still not completely sure what is actually part of the Charge 5 and what is premium.    For example, on the Charge 4, I can see the basic Stress management score (details are premium), Health metrics basics for Breathing Rate, Heart Rate Variability, Skin Temp, SpO2 and Resting heart rate.   But that doesn't even show for the non-premium.   There is a category for Basic insights, but pretty vague.

What I can see is

* Daily Readiness - definitely Premium

* Stress Management - detailed breakdown is Premium

* Heart Health - coming soon -  Premium or Basic?

* Health Metrics - indicates SpO2, HRV, BR, etc are included, but personal range and trends would be Premium

* GPS - guided audio workouts Premium

This would all be solved by just updating the features page with the pieces that are in the premium.

I agree, it's much more confusing than it really needs to be. There should be a simple comparison chart for each device with a column for premium and one for non premium, the user can then easily compare.

As for the ECG feature, the Sense has ECG and as far as I know it's available for all users. I would assume this will also be the case for the Charge 5, but hopefully someone from Fitbit can confirm this.

@makou   The full Features and Specs do not list the ECG as being a Premium feature.  This is consistent with the Sense.  My husband wears a Sense, does not have Premium, and uses it daily.  The big thing to know is that the ECG is not available in every country.  With respect to the Health Metrics dashboard, non-Premium users get a one week graph of their values.  Premium users can toggle between one week and one month graphs.

@pkjohn1   This is my take on the Heart Health reference in the Google Blog.  The Charge 5 includes a high and low heart rate alarm (this is on the Sense and Versa 3 and does not require Premium).

The Daily Readiness Score is definitely a Premium feature.  Fitbit said that it will be added to some existing devices, but NOT the Charge 4.  Source

I thought I read it comes with a free 6 month subscription but for new customers only?  If you're upgrading and had the premium, I'm not so certain they would do it?  Not sure though.

@lsa196 you should be able to cancel your current paid subscription. Wait until the end of this term. Then start the free 6 months.

Thanks for the reply back Rich:). Will they already know it should be the free 6 month for my recent purchase? I just removed my old Fitbit yesterday and now running my Versus 2?  It was just delivered yesterday? To clarify, I should cancel the last day of the subscription and then when I look for that 6 month subscription offer, will they ask a question if I just bought a new device?  And then say hey, by the way, you're eligible for 6 free months of Fitbit Premium for the purchase of your new Fitbit. And I would check the box, "yes".  It would be that simple to begin the 6 month free subscription?

BTW, I didn't pay attention with my old Fitbit and they just rolled me over into premium.  I was going to cancel right away for a refund then just let it go and paid the 79.00.  Thanks again for your feedback:)
