Despite the Charge 5 being marketed as water proof up to 50 metres, mine suddenly puttered out and refused to turn on, and upon close look, there was condensation in the heart rate sensor (image below for reference). It certainly didn’t look like that a week ago!
I have not submerged it in water nor have I gone swimming in this climate, and have even taken precautions to not shower with it, so I can only conclude that the only water it has touched is from me (my sweat). I even after many restarts, it doesn’t track my heart rate or my steps…which is the whole point of getting a fitness tracker! All in all, I’m pretty peeved. Why advertise its waterproofness if it isn’t water proof at all? How can condensation even get in?

Welcome to the Fitbit community, @mtantan!
Sad to hear that you're having issues with your Charge 5. Condensation can happen due to big temperature difference. As it has lead to malfunction in case of your device, I'd suggest contacting Fitbit support to get further assistance:

Hi, I'm wondering if you were able to get this fixed. I have never submerged mine and it even gets condensation from light sweat. Thank you.

I have the same problem. I was outside during fireworks 7/2/23 It started to rain. I went inside and the screen was black. I did the reset button and it started vibrating continuously and never reset. It stayed black and went dead. I did notice some condensation as well but it was never wet? How is that waterproofing or even resistant. Bummer
