Charge 5 is resetting my steps around 8pm

My Fitbit has started changing my steps around 8pm. They go (for example) from 5000 down to 1700 then goes back up to 4000. Why is it doing this?  The steps are all over the place after 8pm. 

Update: I forgot to mention on the app my steps are totally different from my charge 5.

Hi there, @umichfan. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is resetting your steps before midnight. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend restarting your Charge 5. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
