Please help before I return my Charge 5. Since having my charge 5 it’s been tracking ridiculous number of steps. My settings are correct I’m that using my non dominant hand, my height is correct yet my steps are showing 1000’s more than I have done. Also my calories are still too high, maybe related, even if you discount the BMR calories. Unless I can get this show realistic figures it’s pointless and borderline dangerous.

Hi, @PaulAsh, welcome to the community, can you confirm you have not engaged "Mobile Track" in the Fitbit app on your phone? ( if you have you should delete it as you are double counting steps) Is the step miss count constant or occasional? you may be interested in these articles How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? , How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities? and this third-party comment on step accuracy How to make your fitness tracker count steps more accurately - The Verge .
I hope this helps, let us know how you get on.

Hi, @PaulAsh, is the miscount constant or occasional? If it's rare you can edit as indicated above. What is the magnitude of the error, does it vary?
I look forward to your info.
Cheers

Hi, @PaulAsh, thanks for your feedback, these numbers are modest I think you should review the articles I posted earlier. You will see that the device analyses your arm movement and detects a step, it has no way of noting your actual footfall, all makes of wearable do the same. When you wake in the morning you will see you have accumulated some steps even before you get out of bed due to a restless night, this is quite normal, the numbers are small.
Some people accumulate steps while driving or typing.
If this concerns you you are able to edit the number as described above.
In my experience, Fitbit's calorie count is in line with other makes of devices.
There's a section on calories in this article How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?
I hope this helps, please post here again if you have not made any progress.
Cheers
