Charge 5 issues

Hi,

my charge 5 recently got some issues and I believe I have only used it like a year:

  • screen wake (auto) not working
  • battery drops significantly (fully charged last night, and this morning saying no battery already)
  • very non-responsive in the screen
  • the steps got completely wrong yesterday. It suddenly shows 18000 steps which i knew it's wrong. Then when i sync the fitbit app and later it changed back to 9000 steps

I tried resetting the fitbit a couple of times (press 3 times with the usb charger). I even tried completely erase user data and repair it again and it looks the same. Is it going to die soon?

Long term fitbit user since Flex. Some behaviors are rude.

Hi there, @Edmond. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your Charge 5. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Regarding screen issues, please try the steps below:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon at the top-left corner.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device image. 
  3. Near the bottom of the page, tap Sync Now.

If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device once again as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face. 

About the battery short life, please bear in mind that as all rechargeable batteries age, they deteriorate to some extent and an older device will need to be charged more often than a new one. The best way of minimizing this effect is to avoid deep discharges of the battery. To maximize the overall life of your Fitbit device's battery, ideally keep it between 20-80%.  Many people find that a daily battery boost works best ( e.g. giving it a 15 minutes charge while you are showering in the morning).

Hi Maria,

Thanks for replying my post. Actually I have used Fitbit trackers since 10 years ago so I knew the basics of syncing and especially battery of Fitbit products. I actually contact fitbit support directly and they have checked and confirmed the product is dying (suddenly) so there's nothing we can do about it. But the product life is just a bit shorter than I expect, and strangely, all issues just came at the same time.
