The charger cable is no longer maintaining a secure hold on the fitbit and it causes the charge thing to rapidly come and go when I try to charge the fitbit, till it shows an error saying that the battery is not charging. I've used a tooth brush to clean both sides and it didn't help, I tried various methods of cleaning the connection points and nothing improved the connection. I have to push a little harder now to make it connect and try to line it up perfectly which is hard because of the stupid magnet.
I miss the Fitbit Charge 3 honestly. It had a secure connector, with a physical button on the side for going back a screen instead of this "swipe only" system. In any case the connector in this case is the problem. There's no way for it to totally secure its self to the watch. It doesn't latch around like the old version did. At first I liked it, but now I've only had this for a few months and its barely working.

Have you tried cleaning the two units, my Charge 5 can still hang from the cable.
I would think laying on a table would be fine.

I did say I cleaned it, in my post here.

You may want to consider getting a replacement charging cable or charging stand. Amazon has several options, search for: Charge 5 charger. I got the CAVN charging stand and it works well.

I'll look into that later. I'm still trying to determine the exact issue. I really don't want to send in for a replacement every 3 months if I don't have to. I just wish Fitbit hadn't changed the design so much and made certain features more useless. I actually miss my Charge 3.
