Hi there, @Dion.76. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 keeps locking up. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If you haven't done so yet, please try the steps below:

  1. From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap the devices icon at the top-left corner.
  2. Tap your Fitbit device image.
  3. Near the bottom of the page, tap Sync Now.

If the above doesn't work, please restart your Fitbit device once again as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

HI! My Charge 5 is doing the same thing. At first I thought it was a low battery so I would plug it in and then I would see that it was fine. When I tap on the screen it wouldn't show the time or my clock face. Did you try the trouble shooting and did it fix it?

I think when the Charge 7 comes out (maybe this fall) I'll have to get a new one.

I am have similar issues the past few days. Noe of these suggestions help for long. I can reset it and it will last for 12 hours or so and then go back to getting stuck on Fitbit logo for sometimes hours.

Exact same symptoms here. Sticks on logo screen until charged.  Restart or reset doesn’t help.
Better screen, but otherwise the Charge 3 was better than this C5.  If not resolved I’ll be leaving Fitbit

Yes, I am having this issue too, and it's happening several times a day.  Very frustrating.  Must place on charger and press the reset button 3 times, each one second apart, then wait for reboot.  After that, you need to reopen and sync the app on your phone.  That should correct the time.  Also, if I even just scroll to the EGD screen on the tracker it immediately goes black and requires a reset.  Come on Google!  We need more help than just telling us how to re- sync our trackers.  This should not be happening!  You need to fix this bug!

I posted this comment above when it should have been addressed to the Fitbit Moderator, so I'm reposting it here:

I have been having the identical problem for the past week or so. Someone on the Google phone line told me to just call back when it happens again!

am happy with this solution.

I just called Fitbit/Google, and basically got no help. He told me sometimes the battery runs down quickly. When I connected the charger and woke the system up, it said I had 91% battery - not run down! It seems like lots of people are having a similar problem recently.

I am having same issues and getting worse.  Now disconnected from Bluetooth with black screen multiple times daily since April.  I have reset, recharged, logout and back in, shut off Bluetooth and reconnect, factory reset, changed clock numerous times almost daily since this started and I moved account to google. All of the suggestions I have tried that I have read on numerous threads all over the internet and yet the problem continues. Now coincidentally, around February my membership ended and I didn’t renew and within a month these problems started.  I have read posts where users got a discount on the newer charge 6 and that the charge 6 users are now experiencing the same issues.  I understand that Fitbit bricked their firmware as noted all over the internet as there are literally thousands experiencing this same issue and I have considered that it has something to do with membership renewals.  Could it be that your fit will only work if you have the membership?   In any event, I am going to do what many of those others have suggested…time to say good bye to Fitbit and look for another product.

Last night and again this morning, the Charge 5 will not wake up. When I connect it to the charger, it reboots, shows plenty of battery left, and the wrong time. When I sync on the app, the time resets - unless it has already shut down again by then. That means the system has completely shutdown even while there is battery remaining. I Googled "Fitbit Replacement" - four different review sites had as their top recommendation Vital Fit Track (https://offer.getvitalfittrack.com/). I've ordered one for about $56 - We will see how it works.

I spent over 30 minutes instant messaging someone from FitBit yesterday. Long story short, the woman gave me a coupon for 35% off my next Fitbit purchase.

I don't think there is anything we can do. I have purchased two additional chargers (for my car and at work) so that I can put the fitbit on the charger to "wake it up" at times. But otherwise...it keeps locking up. I am more than disappointed because I have constantly had a fitbit since 2008. I have the Fitbit scale..I like that I have all of these years of data.

I am also angry and frustrated that there seems to be nothing they can do to fix it. The person on messenger said she can tell I have a battery problem with my Fitbit Charge 5...then she said she would look to see if it's in warranty. I almost laughed out loud. I got this fitbit in the fall of 2021. Of course it's not in warranty.

Anyway--I guess I'll keep wearing it eventhough it's "black/blank" most of the day bc it is still collecting data for me.

If it is "blank/black" it is NOT collecting data. When you wake it up, is
the time right? Mine is not, meaning the unit has completely shut down.

I'm having the same issues as everyone on this thread.  Hmm?  What's up that we are all suddenly having the same problem?

Yep - that is when the internal clock stopped. When you sync after a
restart, it gets the correct time from your phone/computer.
