Charge 5 keeps tuning off when I unplug it

I have had my charge 5 for a few years and never had any issues. but last week it turned off for no reason and now wont turn back on unless its on charge. As soon as i take it off charge it turns off despite saying its at 100% charge. Its worth noting that the charge level keeps changing from 83 to 96 to 100 randomly. I have tried doing a reset by pressing the button 3 times whilst its plugged in, it does a reset but again, as soon as i unplug it it turns off again also the battey level is different after each time. open to any other suggestings or reasons why this is happening.

I appreciate your message, and I'm sorry to hear about this issue regarding the short battery life of your Charge 5. 

Thank you for all the troubleshooting steps you tried. 

This problem could be due to a pending update of your phone's operating system, in this case please check this as indicated below.
