My Charge 5 was at 100% last night and this morning was at 9 13%.  Has anyone had this issue?

Hi, thank you for sharing all this information about the trouble you've been having with your Charge 5, @Runnsew

The battery can last up to 7 days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary, but the battery shouldn't be draining only after one or two days.

Before considering other options, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this articleSome of the feature that can drain the battery more rapidly are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 day when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Using an Sp82 clock face (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

In addition, try to perform a restart following the steps listed here below, this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times, pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

Keep in mind that other users have been experiencing this problem with the battery draining too fast. There's a new firmware version that was released a few days ago that will resolve this issue, But keep in mind it's being rolled out progressively and not everyone will receive it at the exact same time.  You can find more information about how to update in this thread

You'll be able to proceed with the update until you see the red banner in the Fitbit app indicating that a new version is available is available for you.

Hope this helps, I'll be around.

Same here. Mine loses complete charge in 1-2 hours. Started 2-3 days ago

I updated, reset, went through all the trouble shooting. No help. What’s next?

Since last Friday the charge 5 has dropped its charge very quickly and from 99% to 0% in 3 hrs ! Device is unusable! Customer service is not very helpful.

Me too since 3 days.... 100 to 0 in 3 hours, unusable, very sad!!! I need firmware upgrade ASAP expecially before go holiday 😞

Mine is doing the same thing. I updated the firmware and now my battery lasts less than 4 hours. The screen also is glitchy after the firmware update.

I have had the exact same thing happen in the same time frame. Something had to happen. Customer support wasn't helpful at all, just kept saying an update was coming but wouldn't say when. I started the day at 100% and by 8-9pm it was at 6% percent battery. It also started displaying a different time.

Me too!  I woke up this morning and it was completely dead.  I always charge it when I’m in the shower at night, so it is always fully charged when I go to bed. I plugged it in-it was unresponsive, and at first it said 42%, then a checked it after a few minutes and it said it was at 12%.  Now it’s gradually going up into the 20s.

I think it shut all the way down at 6:21, because that was the end of my sleep tracking, even though I slept later than that. I checked for an update, but it says it’s fine. I’m afraid it’s going to be another Fitbit that doesn’t even last a year. That is getting old. I hate the hassle of replacing it-the cost and waiting for days without being able to track. Very frustrating.

Mine too!!

Luckily I purchased mine last week and within 3 days, I began to have severe battery drain.  It's no longer worth keeping and I will be returning it and getting money back.

I will keep using my charge 4 until I find another device from another company.   Fitbit really needs step up in their game to win their loyal customers back!!

Same issue with Charge 5, about a week ago it stopped holding a charge for even a day.   Did all the suggested steps.  Did not fix it.   Now will not even charge at all.   The device just heats up but will never charge.   Totally dead now.  Only 6 months old.

Must admit I thought that it was a faulty device but reading all the posts
it's not ! Should have checked any update before they release. The customer
service team didn't say anyone else was having a problem! Maybe I wouldn't
have been so synical as to their replys !

Received my new Fitbit charge 5 on Monday & have the same issue. Battery dies within a day. My old charge 3 is still holding power 5 days after charge but the screen has dimmed so bad I can’t see it.

If anyone can provide a solution to the charge 3 screen problem I may just send this one back! Don’t want to do the update on the 5 after the results here

I just got an email from FitBit support acknowledging the battery drain issue and they said they are working on a firmware update to correct it. They did not give an ETA.

Yes I had that update yesterday. Wish that they were more upfront with the
problem! Originally thought it was just me. My device is unusable with only
aproxx 3 hrs of run time. If they had announced a battery problem I would
not have been so cross about it. Just had a standard email saying a update
is being worked on. Why change the settings until fully tested.

I wouldn't hold your breath. The firmware update is being rolled out, but didn't make a jot of different, lost all charge within 14 hours or so. Sigh.

It’s ridiculous! Charge is nearly all gone & I only charged last night.

Yes me to ! Mines 6 months old and all you get from customer service is
waiting for update. Taking mine back to retailer today for exchange if
possible. Unable to use it .think its a battery problem rather than a
software issue.

To clarify, my Fitbit was fine before the new firmware that rolled out this week. I updated my Fitbit in the morning and started having battery issues and screen issues directly after. My Fitbit won't stay charged for more than 3 hours now. And earlier this week it would stay charged for at least 5 days.
