Charge 5 no consistent hear rate during sleep

Hi, I have never been able to get my sleep stages (REM, Deep Sleep) with the Charge 5.

  • I am on the free premium account.
  • I wear the device 1 finger above the wrist.
  • Running Fitbit on Android 13.
  • My HR is tracked automatically without problem throughout the day and night.

Troubleshooting steps tried

  • Tried all the advices shown in "Learn More" (screenshot below)
  • Updated device to latest firmware
  • Restarted the device
  • Reinstalled the app and re-coupled the device
  • Importantly, the sleep stages were successfully detected when my girlfriend used the device, with all other settings remaining the same.
  • Tried the device on both arms, inside and outside the wrist, at different distances from the wrist

My suspicion is that the Fitbit algorithm is unable to extract the sleep stages from the heart rate data of some people.
