Charge 5 not syncing calories

Subject line.  I have to restart my phone multiple times per day now and uninstall/reinstall the app a few times a month to get my calorie output to update between my Charge 5 and my phone.  Is there a permanent fix for this or am I stuck in an endless troubleshooting loop?
