This help page (<-- click link) has the recommended troubleshooting steps for iOS & Android users. My apologies if you've already read this.
Although it's not mentioned as a troubleshooting step, several users have reported that they were able to sync after they turned Wi-Fi off & back on. Turning both Bluetooth & Wi-Fi off and back on has worked for me when I have trouble syncing.
