Charge 5 screen stuck on a red X

In the middle of my work out my Charge 5 screen went black. I did not receive a low battery message, so I checked the Fitbit app for any error messages and there were none and the battery was not in need of a charge.  Got home put device on charger and the screen displayed a red circle with an X inside it. Took device off charger and replaced on charger but the red circle with the X is still there.  Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Thank you

Hi there, @Gmaries. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Charge 5 before reaching out. @arhowartb Welcome on board. Thanks for sharing the details about the issue with your Fitbit device.

In addition to the steps you've tried, please try the following steps while your Charge 5 is connected to the charging cable:

  • Unpair your Charge 5 from your phone's Bluetooth and also make sure it's no longer connect to your Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Charge 5 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 5.

If you can't get started with your Charge 5, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

If the above doesn't work and you don't feel any vibration while performing a restart, please try the steps provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Once you make sure that your Charge 5 is charging, try the steps above one more time.

Thank you for your response. It hasn’t worked yet.

Fitbit is showing up as a device on Bluetooth search but won’t re-connect. Still only get screen with cross in a circle.

Thanks,

Alan.

Thank you.  I did all the steps this morning and got my device an active screen.  My steps and activity from yesterday rolled over into today.  This afternoon, again during a workout, the screen goes back to Fitbit Logo.  I came home and repeated the recommended procedure.  I was able again to get an active and synchronized device, but it still is showing my activity from yesterday rolled over in to today.  I guess if the device continues to automatically shut down, it is time for a different tracker.

I only got this Charge5 in November 2022. Should it only last that long?
