Charge 5 screen turns on overnight?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have my Charge 5 set to have the screen off, except when I turn my wrist or tap the display. I also leave it by the bedside overnight. (I just can't wear it 24 hours.) But in the morning, the screen will often be on, and it will not turn off after the time-out. It seems to me that this wastes its battery. Is this a bug? Something that I can turn off?

thx

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @keraba

Thank you for sharing all this information about the problem you've been experiencing with the Charge 5.

If you haven't done so already, please try completing a three pulse restart using the charging cable and check if you continue to experience the same issue. In addition, you can also turn on the Sleep Mode feature. When this feature is on:

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist.
  • To wake Charge 5, firmly tap the screen twice.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in quick settings.

Let me know if the display continues to turn on overnight after these steps.

Thanks for the reply.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 3 pulse restart is no different from a regular restart. It is simply used when the Fitbit is unresponsive. I've restarted it many times. It hasn't helped.

Sleep mode sounds like an extra step. I would like the display to turn off whenever I put the tracker down, even during the day. It sounds like I would have to remember to change the mode before putting it down, just to save its battery.

I guess there is no way to report a bug? To collect logs and discover why it is doing this?

thx

@keraba Thank you for your reply and your inquiries.

The regular restart is the one that you find in the settings app, the three pulse restart mentioned earlier is the one that you complete using the charging cable:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times (end of the USB cable), pausing for 1 second between presses. Then wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.

The display should turn off when you put the tracker down. In addition to the steps mentioned earlier, please make sure the Always On display feature is turned off, go to the Settings app > Display Settings > Always On display option is at the bottom > Make sure the options is Off.

Let me know if you continue to experience the same behavior afterwards.
