Swipe down from clock face to get to Quick Settings.

You probably accidentally have Screen Wake set to Manual instead on Manual.  If that's not it, you might be in Sleep mode.

I have had 2 Fitbit Charge 5s.  The first one lasted less than 6 months and I had to get it replaced since it went black.  I got the replacement in Feb. of this year.  Last week or so it went black on me, also.  When I went to help about it they couldn't fix it and said I am not entitled to a replacement but they will give me 30 percent off of a new one.  I have to buy it in the next 30 days.   AVOID THE FITBIT CHARGE 5 like the plague.

That didn't work for either of the Fitbit Charge 5s that I have had.
