Charge 5 screen wake stopped working

Had always been able to activate Charge 5 display by quickly lifting my wrist.  Has stopped providing this convient, no hands operation recently.

I've not found any settings to adjust on order to get this feature to start working again.

Any suggestions are welcomed

Hello @BillL_01

Have you had a chance to check the Settings menu on your Charge 5 to see if Screen Wake somehow got set to Manual? If the Screen Wake is set to Manual, it requires double tap to wake it. If it's set to Auto, then the display should show when you lift your arm & turn your wrist. To check the setting:

  • Swipe down from the clock face to get to the Settings tile and tap on it
  • Swipe up to Display and tap
  • Swipe up to Screen Wake. If it's set to Manual, tap on it to change to Auto

Hi there, @BillL_01. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that the screen wake of your Charge 5 has stopped working. I will do my best to help you with this!

It sounds like your Charge 5 maybe in sleep mode. When the sleep mode setting is on:

  • Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders to move are muted.
  • The screen's brightness is set to dim.
  • The Always-On Display clock face is turned off.
  • The screen stays dark when you turn your wrist.
  • The sleep mode icon illuminates in the quick settings.

To turn off Sleep Mode, swipe down from the clock screen. Tap a setting to adjust it. . For more information, see How do I navigate my Fitbit device?

If the above doesn't describe your issue, please go to your quick settings and check that screen wake hasn't accidentally been turned off. swipe down from the clock screen again and tap the setting to adjust it. Change whether the screen turns on when you turn your wrist.

If this settings is set correctly, please try restarting your Charge 5 by following these steps How do I restart my Fitbit device?
