Charge 5 screen won't turn on

When I plug in my Fitbit Charge 5, it will vibrate but no battery icon shows up. The display does not turn on at all. I have pushed the reset button on the charge cord and the Fitbit vibrates each time I push it, then it vibrates on its own about 5 seconds later after pushing the reset button 3 times. Still no display.

I have cleaned it with a pencil eraser, bought a new charge cord, and cleaned it with an alcohol swab. I have tried muliple outlets, multiple blocks (Quick Charge and a 2.1 charger) to no avail.

Is my Fit Charge 5 toast? Is the battery no good? Help!

Could you have the current Blank screen bug? Does your Charge 5 still count steps and sync?

This is the problem I am having, accept it has decided to unlink from my phone and without the screen I can't relink it. I know its still working as it buzzes when I put it on charge and still buzzes at the time of my set alarm, however as the screen isn't working I can't stop the alarm 🤣🤦🏼‍:female_sign: how do I fix this?

Best Answer

It doesn't anymore now that the screen won't turn on at all. The last time I synced it was 18 days ago according to my app.

odd that they all seem to be happening at the same time. Mine happened on Aug 3rd. Went black. There was charge left, and then nothing. Won't charge, black screen.

My Fitbit 5 has not worked for 2 weeks. I’ve tried all the suggestions. It is just a black screen. Doesn’t vibrate anymore. Occasionally I see the blue logo flash up but there isn’t time to try a reset. This is a replacement 5 which is 2.5 years old so Im not happy I have a 2nd faulty 5….

There is a current known issue with the last update, where the Charge 5 screen goes blank. Which happened to my Charge 5. Fitbit/google does not have a fix yet. If you want to continue to use the Charge 5 Do not remove or reset the Charge 5 from your app/account.

With any Fitbit problem (especially sync issue), you really should never remove the tracker until the other 10 things to try have been tried. Even then check the none issues first. Here is one place to start https://status.fitbit.com/summary

try a restart:

(from charge 6 manual) 1. Connect your device to the charging cable. 2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second. Fitbit logo should appear in 10 seconds.

Note: If your charger doesn’t have a button, you can instead disconnect your tracker from the charging cable, pause for 1 second, then reconnect it. Repeat 3 times.. 3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears. Note: If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds and try again.

Thank you. I wasn’t aware of an update. When was it? Has it affected many
owners of Fitbit5’s or are we just the unlucky ones.
I have tried all the suggestions in the Fitbit app several times. My 5
seems to be totally dead. It occasionally flashes the blue logo but does
give me time to restart!
Thank you for the link. There may be something new I haven’t tried!

Since 2 days my Charge 5 has issues, too. First, I thought I forgot to charge it because battery was low. But I charged it to 100% and tonight it went off again and I thought it wouldn't load properly, but it did. I found the root cause: it turns on constantly. Shows alterning clock and logo  and so it consumes energy constantly. That is why it turns off. Can't use it with this malfunction. This sucks. I don't think, the device itself is the problem, but those constant issues that occur with every update. They should stop to do this and leave it when it works. 😡 I don't know what to do now and hope that they will find a solution soon. Thinking about changing the brand and use another smart watch.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else here. My Fitbit has gone dark. I've charged it to 100% and it says that on both the Charge 5 and in the app. I works for about 1 min, then goes blank again. I've tried to reset it using the black flat button, I've tried to clean the connections... Nothing works. I too have only had this Fitbit for a couple of years. I've seen a lot of people posting about this issue in the last couple of days, so I think it is something that the Fitbit folks did with a firmware update or something. Who do we call to get this fixed? Ghostbusters?

What a piece of crap this fitbit is, and even worse that Google/Fitbit has no customer support, no emails, no address and no phone number. Because...they know. They know their product is faulty and they don't care. They created a "community" to get customers to provide support (how clever) because they don't want to pay someone to provide support. And i can't even mail this piece of garbage back to get replaced. Congrats FitBit and google, i'll never buy your **ahem** again.
