Charge 5 setup stuck at 'Is your Charge 5 charging?' (Android)

I am switching from an iPhone to an Android, so I deleted my Charge 5from the iPhone Fitbit app and now I'm trying to set it up in the Android app. I have done this several times before without any issues (I am indecisive about which phone to use). 

 

This time however it gets to the point where the app tries to find the Charge 5 and it just searches and searches without finding the Charge 5. The app is up to date, I have cleared the cache, force stopped the app, rebooted the phone and the Charge 5, and Bluetooth is on. Any ideas what I can try next?

Fixed it -- 

1. uninstalled the app

2. rebooted the phone

3. installed the app and signed back in

I have paired this Charge 5 with this Android phone (moto g8) successfully several times in the past.
