I set my Fitbit to run at the start of parkrun when I go through the finish line the screen is blank and doesn’t respond. Once home I plug in the charger and it comes back on and has still counted my steps but the run isn’t shown on Strava which the Fitbit is connected to

@Parkrunnet Thanks for getting back and for the details provided.
The restart should help even if the Charge 5 is not shutting off completely. If you haven't restarted your Charge 5 yet, please try the following first:
If the above doesn't work, then yes, please restart your Fitbit device as suggested here How do I restart my Fitbit device? Note: Restarting the device doesn’t delete any data. If the restart doesn't work try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.

Hi there, @Parkrunnet. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is shutting down when you run. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!
To better assist you, may I know if this is happening only when you run? Have you noticed this behavior at any other time during the day? If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend trying to restart your Charge 5 by following these steps.

It has also gone to a blank screen when on a walk. As soon as home I put it on the charger, the diamond symbol shows and there is plenty of battery life. I can then continue to use it as normal. Would restarting make any difference as it’s not shutting off completely?
