Charge 5 stopped syncing

My charge 5 won’t sync. In following the recommended actions, I go to delete the app so I can reinstall it, but receive a warning that all data will be lost. Is the data stored in my account rather than on the app? So that I know I will still have access to the historical data as it’s important because I have health data I need, to look back on.

Hi there, @MrsGeorgiaT. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 is still not syncing properly. I understand where your concern is coming from as keeping your data is so important to you, I will do my best to help you with this!

Before reinstalling the Fitbit app, please confirm whether you've tried all tips and recommendations provided here Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

If the issue persists, please try the steps below in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your Charge 5 first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

Regarding your inquiry about data loss, please be aware that most Fitbit devices store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data. Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. Nevertheless, if your Fitbit device was unpaired from your Fitbit account during this period of time, neither the 7 days can be recovered or restored.

What about all the other people with Charge 5 Fitbits (see "Do you Care" "Charge 5 Blank Screen" "Fitbit Charge 5 Stopped Working") that just died in the last few days?  I've done everything they suggested (as have others) to no avail.  What do we do now with our less than year old Fitbits?

Reinstalling the app didn’t work either. Any further advice welcome. Thanks.

It's been a week and I guess I'll just toss the 9 month old piece of junk into the trash and unsubscribe to all this Fitbit nonsense.
