Both the heart rate and sleep monitoring stop working apparently randomly. This isn't associated with battery charge or any change in settings. In order to restart them I have to restart my Charge 5. I've seen other comments on this but haven't seen a solution. Is an update due to fix this?

@RuthBE Welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for the details mentioned.
I appreciate the troubleshooting performed and the research done prior to posting. Let's try the following:
- Make sure that Heart Rate is turned on in the Charge 5 settings
- Confirm a restart was performed following this procedure
- Set up your tracker as a new device to your account
Hope this helps.

Best AnswerI've done all that. It is currently tracking sleep and heart at the moment but stops tracking both apparently randomly. Restart gets them both going again but I think there's a bug as it's happened three times since I got my Charge 5 on its release.
This seemed to help my Fitbit with the same issue.
Go to Heart Rate setting on the Charge 5 through Settings on the device.
Toggle Off,
Sync Fitbit,
Toggle On,
Sync Fitbit.
Then restart Charge 5 through Settings on the device.
This seemed to restore the recording of Breathing Rate in Health Metrics and also Sleep Score and Sleep Stages in the Sleep tile.
It has also seemed to have improved my battery life. I fully charged my Charge 5 two days ago and it is still on 87% where it would drain relatively quickly prior to this discovery.
Best of luck in your troubleshooting.
Same here. Only had the Charge 5 for about a month. It has even stopped registering midday and overnight for me at least once or twice every 1-2 weeks. I charge to 100% and never let it dip below 80% (thinking that the sensors are constantly running and draw power).
I done all of the above myself and it takes at least 20+ minutes to get it registering sleep and heart rate again. I purposely purchased to register any Afib issues. This is almost making me want to have Fitbit replace with different unit or a different model that has more consistent functionality. If this is a bug, please UPDATE!
Mine stopped shortly after midnight. I didn't realize until I was exercising and didn't see a heart rate. Support just had me restart. That works but I want the watch to work all the time. Stopping one of the important features randomly is not good. I am hoping there is a fix inn the next software upgrade that actually gives us the device we paid for.
I've had the same problem twice (didn't record sleep and stopped recording heart rate, which obviously are connected) in less than 1 week of ownership of the Charge 5; the second time happened the day after I did a reset. Like others, I never had this problem with the Charge 4. After seeing how it's happening to several other people, I think I'll just return the Charge 5 to Amazon. Sad. It seemed sturdier than the Charge 4 and I was really looking forward the using it.
I had Fitbit replace my Charge 5 with a new one and I have the SAME problem with the new one. Resetting it starts the heart monitor again but this shouldn’t be happening. I lose sleep monitoring because it randomly stops in the night. I lost a days worth of zone minutes because I didn’t notice it was off. Very frustrating. Fitbit needs to fix this!
