Charge 5 stopped tracking my sleep data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For some reason my watch randomly stopped tracking my sleep this week:
It used to automatically track my overnight sleep that would sync the next morning, but the last few days everything else syncs [resting HR etc.] but no sleep log.
Device is always fully charged before I go to bed, and I am definitely in bed for longer than 3hrs, so why did my watch randomly stop tracking my sleep? And how can I fix it?

Hi there, @ironXtreme. Thanks for stopping by in the Fitbit Community Forums and sharing the details about the issue with your Charge 5.

I'd recommend trying the following steps to make sure your heart rate is working:

  • Switch the Heart Rate settings from On to Off and manually sync your watch. To switch the heart rate settings on your watch, from the main screen of your watch, swipe left until you see "Settings", next swipe up until you see "Heart Rate" and switch it to Off.
  • Once it's done, manually sync your Charge 5. To do so, open the Fitbit app, tap on the Account icon, tap on your Charge 5's image and tap on "Sync Now"
  • Next, switch it from Off to On and manually sync your watch once again.
  • Once it's done, restart your watch once again.
  • Next, confirm that your tracker is snug on your wrist (the lights shouldn't be visible) We also recommend when you're not exercising, wear the tracker just above the wrist bone.

Bear in mind that if your heart rate is not working, your sleep stages won't too as this data is calculated by your heart rate readings. Nevertheless, I suggest checking Why don't I see sleep stages today?

Thank you for the feedback.
To clarify, the heart rate seems to be working just fine: I am still getting my resting heart rate along with the graph of my heart rate trends, activity data, etc. It is just the sleep data that isn't coming up when I sync my Fitbit.

I have done everything the exact same as always from fully charging the device to wearing it snuggly on my wrist.

Also, it's not just the sleep stages that aren't tracking, it's not tracking that I slept at all. Again, nothing has change with how I use the device and everything else seems to work. It just randomly stopped tracking my sleep.

Any insight?

*repost for clarity

For some reason my Fitbit device randomly stopped tracking my sleep:

It is fully charged before I go to bed at night, and everything about how I use it and how I sleep is the exact same as always, but it randomly stopped logging any sleep last week.

Everything else  shows up when I sync it [heart rate, activities, steps, etc.] but there is no record of sleep at all.

What could be going on and how can I fix this?

*reposted because the response to my original post gave instructions on how to check the HR, but it is tracking my HR just fine.

@ironXtreme I'm glad to hear your Charge 5 is now tracking your sleep data. 🙂

Regarding your inquiry, it might be due to something with your heart rate readings. Remember, sleep stages are based on your HR. For more information, see What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

I appreciate the followup but there seems to be so much misunderstanding. 😞

The whole problem is that my Charge 5 is NOT tracking my sleep data.

It IS tracking my HR and everything else just fine.

And again, everything about my typical sleep patterns, HR, how I wear the watch, charge it, etc. is the same so none of that would explain why it stopped recording my sleep all of a sudden.

Can you or anyone else help me figure out why my device randomly stopped tracking my sleep last week?

I’m interested too because mine just stop tracking my sleep in the middle of the night.

I'm now on my second charge 5 because of the sleep tracking issues.

I'm told to reset the tracker, I'm told to wear it on my other wrist, I'm told to sleep in a different position, I'm told to download the app again, clear the cache on the app and try again.

I've done that on both and yet again it's still not recording my sleep.

to make matters worse, its now not tracking all my workouts. This week it recorded one out of 4. contact Customer service and guess what i'm told to do? Reset the tracker and monitor it again.

BUMP to see if anyone can help us resolve the sleep tracking issue?

I'm thinking of trying to use my other device to track sleep [previously the primary reason I was using Fitbit], but thought I'd give it one more shot to see if anyone can help before I give up on Fitbit...

I've having the same problem with my Charge 5 for almost 2 weeks with the sleep detail not showing, as described by ironXtreme.
