Hi there, @oggyfraser. It's nice to see you around the Fitbit Community Forums.  I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 5 has stopped working after getting wet. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration.

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, may I know if your Charge 5 vibrated during the restart process? If it didn't, I'd recommend trying the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

Unfortunately my Fitbit is now out of warranty so a pointless
exercise....but the reason I bought it in the first place was that it could
be used for swimming... So it was bound to get wet...
I was in a 1.2 m deep indoors pool doing the breast stroke... Nothing
extreme, certainly not free diving or surfing ...There is clearly something
wrong with this product for the same issue to occur on the same (two)
products within a week..,
It's a shame as I have been using fitbit products since 2018...I don't
expect them to last forever...but if you look at your forums it's not a
rare occurrance...

@oggyfraser We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products and services into consideration.

Even though I truly appreciate you took the time to come here and express your feelings towards your experience with your Charge 5 and also want to find a resolution to your issue, my best advice is to keep the conversation with our Support Team. Note for this kind of inquiries/cases/process, there's not so much we here in the forums can do for you as this is something that our team handles based on our policies. For more information about our warranty, see fitbit.com/legal/returns-and-warranty.

Thanks in advance!

I had the exact same issue. I've been in the water many many times over the past two years without issue. This time all the sudden the watch died almost immediately. I'm reading a lot of devices have been breaking since the last update. My wife died a week ago and then mine died. I think something is going on

I think you might be right.
So I'm going to try a Huawei watch fit se ,almost half the price of a
charge 5..
