Wore my Fitbit charge 5 for the first time swimming for 10 minutes and now it's broken , I tried all the reboot fixes and nothing works , I think that's the last Fitbit I'll ever buy , it's supposed to be water proof and it literally stopped working 5 minutes after swimming with it

Hi there, @Optsant. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your new Charge 5 is still unresponsive. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, please confirm if you tried all the steps below:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Restart your Fitbit once again.

Regarding your inquiry, please note that most Fitbit devices are water-resistant to 50 meters. They're designed to be swimproof and stand up to even the sweatiest of workouts.

Water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:

  • Dropping the device.
  • Exposing the device to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, perfume, insect repellent, lotions, or sunscreen.
  • Exposing the device to high-velocity water (for example, during water sports).

I can safely say it's the last Fitbit I'll ever buy , the watch claims to be waterproof up to 50 metres and I had it in 5 foot of water for 10 minutes , there is a lot of people with the same issue , so think hard before you make decision to buy a fitness tracking watch
