I purchased the FitBit Charge 5 on October 9, 2023. On October 14, 2024, my Fitbit Charge 5 started to act up. I just charged it two days ago and I noticed that I had a black face. Then I did a reset and noticed that the heart rate monitor isn’t working. Green light has stopped flashing on the back. I cleaned the back to make sure there wasn’t any dirt or residue. Then I noticed that the battery was used up within 2 days of charging.
I tried the many different suggestions from the website (resyncing, restarting, heart rate monitor is set to “on” etc.) and the heart rate monitoring is still not working. In addition, the zone minutes are not working either and the battery charge only last around 2 days.
Update, October 20, 2024. The heart rate and zone monitoring are still not working and the battery only holds a charge for approximately 2 days. Can you tell me what I can do to have the zone minutes and heart rate monitor work again? I’m hoping that this would have lasted for more than one year. My Fitbit One last several years before the battery died.
If this can't be rectified, can the warranty be activated? The problems start just after a year after my purchase.
I look forward to your reply.

Hi, @mmah82 welcome to the community, the battery reserve drain is influenced by what you are doing. Some functions are juice guzzlers such as GPS. If the GPS setting is dynamic or built in the battery will drain much more quickly. My preference is to use the phone GPS as there is a much bigger battery reserve and GPS antenna, and the Charge 5 battery is not heavily affected. You may find How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device? - Fitbit Help Center is of interest.
With respect to the HR & AZM the AZM absence is due to the HR not working. May I suggest you go into your Charge 5 settings - again (swipe down from the clock face to & touch "settings">swipe up to HR & AZM notifications & check that the sliders are in the "On" position. The green LED should start flashing if the Charge 5 is in your hand and being moved.
I hope this helps, let us know how you get on by posting here again.
Cheers

Thank you for your reply.
I don’t use the GPS and I double checked and the GPS is set at “phone”.
I also double checked the HR and AZM and both sliders are set to “on”.
Thanks again for your help. Looks like my Fitbit Charge 5 is slowly dying, at least the steps are working. It is just frustrating that I have to charge it every 2 days now instead of the average of 7 days.

My Fitbit Charge 5 suddenly began to flash to logo about two hours ago, not dead screen even after charging (and shows medium charged on phone). The logo came on each time for about 5 seconds, then flashed blank for a second of two, then repeats over and over for about 30 minutes. Now the screen is blank and dead. It is connected to the charging cable (has been for 30 minutes) and I have tried to use the remedy of pushing the button on the charge cable 3 times several times. Some times that causes the Fitbit to vibrate for a second but most other times nothing. I had a heck of a time with syncing over a month ago and your updates and help finally corrected that. Now this. I have been a Fitbit user for almost 10 years with different models. This one was your best so far and I cannot afford another one right now (or a 6). This is very disappointing for a long time and loyal customer. Assistance please.

Hi, @WolfPackMac welcome to the community, you do not mention how long you've had your Charge 5, sadly, small form wearables have a limited life-span dictated by the number of charge/discharge cycles they've been through. Depending on where you are, who you bought your Charge 5 from and when, you may still benefit from Fitbit's return and warranty policy Talk to "Customer Support" after working through steps one & two use the chat facility or phone for prompt attention. You will have noted there have not been any new Fitbit devices for a little while, you may find some good offers on Black Friday.
I hope this helps.
Cheers
