Charge 5 unresponsive

My charge5 is dead - like dead. 
The screen is black and completely unresponsive. It won’t connect to my phone no matter what I do. Tried doing the restart with the charging cable, turned Bluetooth off and on, “forgot” the device from my phone, removed the device from the Fitbit app, deleted the Fitbit app, reinstalled it and still nothing. I tried giving it a few days for the battery to run dead before attempting everything again. The Fitbit logo flashed for half a second when I first plugged it in, but again, there’s nothing. Not a thing.
